In a move to enhance professionalism and public perception, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has instructed police officers nationwide to cease wearing dark glasses while on duty in uniform.
The directive, issued on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, via a wireless message, was addressed to all zonal and state commands of the Nigeria Police Force.
The message stated; “INGENPOL has observed with concern x prevalent practice of personnel wearing dark glasses while in uniform, this attitude reflects poorly on the Force x deemed unacceptable, consequently, INGENPOL directs that henceforth: all police personnel, should refrain from wearing dark glasses while in uniform, violation of this directive will attract severe disciplinary action. You are to make this, subject of lecture. Ensure strict compliance and treat as very important please.”
